About Roger Brown, Naval Architect

Since Roger Brown obtained his degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan, he has been involved in several aspects of boat design and construction. After spending a year at production sailboat builder Catalina Yachts, Roger served as Chief Engineer at Ericson Yachts for seven years, developing expertise in design and production techniques for composite boats. He also managed the materials department at Ericson, overseeing all purchasing and receiving personnel and functions.

Roger then spent another seven years at Alan Andrews Yacht Design, designing composite custom racing and cruising sailboats and commercial powerboats to individual clients' specifications. He specialized in engineering of composite structures complying with American Bureau of Shipping scantlings.
